Names like Noricia Talabert haven't been forgotten. At a recent gathering to celebrate a local high school basketball player signing to a collegiate full ride, the 4.0 GPA student's name was spoken as a warning that life isn't guaranteed. Talabert was shot down last October in Florida City. It was a senseless shooting, and the culprit used an AK-47.
This Saturday many stakeholders in the South Dade Community have come together to help get dangerous guns off the streets. Homestead-based church City of Refuge has donated $10,000 dollars to the effort.
